Dear Middle School Families,
Today marks the start of the second semester. I’m also hopeful that today is the start of a normal, five day week without weather interruptions. As we begin the second half of the school year, there are a few quick reminders I wanted to pass along.
First, tomorrow is the annual D-E FoodRaiser event. This event, held in the Dining Hall during the lunch period, is hosted by the D-E Parents' Association and benefits the Student Assistance Fund. There will be 15+ restaurants represented with various main dishes and desserts and beverages as well. Middle School students should bring cash if they want to purchase food, and smaller bills are better. Regular lunch service will also be provided, so students do not need to purchase anything.
This Friday I will be writing to you letting you know the semester grades and check sheets are ready for viewing. Sixth graders get detailed check sheets, similar to Lower School. Seventh and eighth graders get semester grades.
The spring sports season begins the first week of March. Students have already been surveyed for their interest in playing a spring sport, but there are still available spots on various teams. The spring sports are track, boys baseball, girls softball, boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, and boys tennis. If your student is interested, they should contact Mr. Aitken (Email:
aitkej@d-e.org) to get signed up ahead of time.
Finally, the spring musical will also begin the audition process soon. Be on the lookout for more information about The Wizard of Oz Jr. and how students can get involved. I’m already excited to see the show, which will be on stage in May.
Have a great week!
Regards,
Jonathan
