A Message from Jonathan Davis, Middle School (MS) Principal
MS Parent-Teacher Conferences Nov. 14-15 (Details & Logistics); D-E 360° Middle School Enrichment (MSE) Homework Club, Chess Offerings & More
November 13, 2024
Dear Middle School Parents/Guardians,
I’m looking forward to seeing many of you on campus for MS Parent - Teacher conferences tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 14) and Friday, Nov. 15. The faculty have been preparing for these conversations over the past week, so I hope you find the feedback meaningful and helpful.
The Middle School is a place that values the process of learning over the product. It is a common theme in conversations in morning meetings and advisory periods. The faculty will be giving you feedback on your student’s growth and where they stand now. The focus is not on what the grade might look like at this moment in the school year, and I’ve asked them to not talk about interim grades.
We have a layered feedback cycle that always puts the feedback and process ahead of the grades. So, 7th and 8th grade students will get interim grades at the end of next week, and 6th grade students will get checksheets in December. Please do not ask teachers to give you the interim grade early.
If you have any questions or issues with conference registration, or need to make last minute cancellations, please contact your grade level dean directly. They will be able to assist you with this.
The cool weather brings all kinds of jackets and hoodies to campus that don’t get worn as soon as the sun shines at recess. So, the Middle School lost and found is growing by the day. We will have the items displayed during conferences, thanks to Diane Cebulski, so that you can easily spot your student’s missing items.
And, speaking of clothing, the Epstein Family School Store is open during conference days. There are all kinds of new D-E spirit wear items, so please go down and check them out. If you do buy something, be sure to put the student’s name on the tag, just in case it ends up in the above mentioned lost and found.
Lastly, I'm sharing a reminder of D-E 360° Middle School Enrichment (MSE) after-school program offerings, in particular, our MSE Homework Club for all MS students. Click here for details and to register your student(s) online. Also please note D-E 360° is offering a half-day, Intrascholastic Chess Tournament, tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 14, starting at 1:30 PM: click here.
